CHANGlNG THE RULES FOR FUEL
A modern day product. the Prozone Fuelsaver fuel saving device, which has been tested both internationally and domestically, is being distributed in the U.S.A. by G.P.S. Trading Inc. as a means of helping to save money on fuel for quarry & mining companies.
Vulcan Materials tested the Prozone Fuelsaver fuel saving device at its
quarry in Lacon, Ala.
"
We experienced at least 8% savings in fuel per day and, on some
days, it may have gone as high as 15%", says Euyless Holcomb,
Vulcan's plant manager Holcolm says the Prozone Fuelsaver fuel
saving device would be a "reasonable investment" for
any producer looking to boost the bottom line. Vulcan used a 1988
Komatsu HD 325-5 haul truck to field test the Prozone Fuelsaver
fuel saving device at Lacon quarry. Another Komatsu HD 325-5 ran
side-by-side with the test vehicle and served as a control vehicle
to validate the results.
Tests were conducted in May. After a two-week break-in period that is necessary for Diesel engines. Each vehicle ran 10 hours per. day, six days a week. The vehicle that did not have the Prozone Fuelsaver fuel saving device installed used 7.196 gallons of fuel per.hour. The decrease in fuel consumption amounted to 5.5% and was due to variables such as weather and the manner in which the vehicle was operated, G.P.S. reports.
Meanwhile, the vehicle that had the Prozone Fuelsaver fuel saving device installed used 6.34 gallons per. hour during the May testing period. During the preceding months, it used 8.0 gallons of fuel per hour. Vulcan realised savings of 18.5% in the vehicle that had the Prozone Fuelsaver fuel saving device installed. Subtracting the 5.5% savings realised by the control vehicle, Vulcan's actual Fuelsaver savings were 13.5%. G.P.S reports. At 50-60 cents a gallon for off-road fuel, we're saving two gallons per. hour", says Holcomb.
